August 8th, 2007 6th stage Etappe Omsk - Nowosibirisk


Important visit at the finishline of this stage

A delegation of the Federal District greeted the 33 participants of the Transsyberia 2007 upon their arrival in Nowosibirsk. The government representatives met with organizer Richard Schalber, as well as the pilots

Armin Schwarz, Rene Metge and Katja Poensgen in the driver's camp. The representatives of Russian President Wladimir Putin in the Syberian federal district, Viktor Markin and Sergei Sverchkov, have supported the rally

preparations during the past weeks. They promise the participants to alleviate the crossing of the Mongolian border.

In his short speech Viktor Markin, Olympic Champion in the 400-meter event, said that, "There are people who speak about diplomacy, and there are those who act. The Transsyberia 2007 is an important step in international diplomacy. The entire world will be able to see Syberia." As a token of their appreciation for their support of the event,

Richard Schalber presented the delegation with medals of the Transsyberia 2007. Tomorrow's stage will take the participants over 525 miles into the Altai Mountains. About 62 miles before the Mongolian border the teams will spend the night in tents for the first time.



August 8th, 2007 6th stage Omsk - Nowosibirslk


From one big city to the next

Since this morning the entire field of drivers of the Transsyberia 2007 has been moving from Omsk into the direction of Nowosibirisk, the fourth largest city in Russia. During the 6th stage, the teams are covering another 411 miles in their approach of the Mongolian border. In summery temperatures around 86' F. the route today runs again through birch and needle forests, fields of sunflowers, as well as the swampy areas of the Syberian Taiga. An evalutaion test is not taking place.

The first drivers are expected in Nowosibirsk in the late afternoon. In the evening the allround leading and former European Rally Champion Armin Schwarz, the three time Paris-Dakar winner Rene Metge, and Germany's most successful motorcyclist Katja Poensgen will be received by Anatoli Kwaschnin, the district's Governor.
