August 7th, 2007 5th stage Tyumen – Omsk (about 373 miles)

The 33 teams of the Transsyberia Rally 2007 have reached Omsk without any incidents.

The last teams arrived in the large city in the early evening. Only the Porsche 911 Safari team had technical problems. Erik Brandenburg and his co-pilot Stephan Preuß started to change their hind wheel house after their arrival. "We only discovered the damage by chance when we were changing a tire" said Brandenburg. He is expecting to participate in tomorrow's stage to Nowosibirsk.

Course without special test

All teams set off into a rather relaxing day this morning, after they practiced using the rope winch yesterday as a precaution. They were able to fix the partially massive damage to two of the vehicles, which occured during the second special test. Rare animals have retreated into the century old coniferous forests. The survivors of this wilderness are bears and wolves. Since there won't be a special test during this stage, the first rally participants are expected in Omsk in the early afternoon. The overall evaluation remains unaltered: team Schwarz/Hilger is in the lead, ahead of the Polish Sliwka/Bryl. The daily winners from August 3rd, 2007, Celma/Pugmeister remain in 3rd place. Once in Omsk, 1615 miles have been covered since Moscow, and there's still a long and exciting way ahead of the entire rally group.
